World Series Fever

Author Phillip Hoose describes “world series fever,” an affliction of boys in the 1950’s when the game was only played during the day–a school day.  How to get out of school to watch?  If your cousin was pitching for the New York Yankees in the World Series and your mom could not be fooled, you had to negotiate.
